This week’s meme is the Pretty cool guy meme.

Some toolbox posted “i think halo is a pretty cool guy. eh kills aleins and doesn’t afraid of anything” on 4chan. This one sentence is just busting with authentic lameness, and thus is immediate meme fodder.

halo eh shoots aleins

However, it’s unknown if the OP (original poster) was being lame on purpose or, in fact, had the intelligence of a bag of hammers. What you do need to know, however, is how to adapt this meme for maximum hilarity and multiple lulz:

i think [something that isn't a name for a person] is a pretty cool guy. eh [performs action upon items] and doesn’t afraid of anything.

Misspelling is optional. Here are some examples:

  1. i think Lost is a pretty cool guy. eh shoots polar bares and doesn’t afraid of anything
  2. i think MacBook Air is a pretty cool guy. eh doesn’t have eithernet and doesn’t afraid of anything
  3. i think Abe Vigoda is a pretty cool guy. eh isn’t dead and doesn’t afraid of anything

Did you spot a fail in the above 3? Yes. #3 is fail, because Abe Vigoda is a guy (ostensibly a pretty cool one).

There was one more meme I wanted to talk about, because it made me laugh uncontrollably, but it’s very, very vile. I will link to this image and leave the rest up to you. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Despite the many attempts to stop it, Meme Attack continues relentless. Two memes this time: FGSFDS and It’s a lion!

FGSFDS

fgsfds

Hold your index finger in the air, pointing upwards, and say “FGSFDS”. This doesn’t mean anything, really, as it’s based on someone’s random reply and a fine picture of Harald Schmidt. Basically, this is “I’m making a point by putting my finger in the air, and my point is this: FGSFDS.”

Jesus Christ, it’s a lion! Get in the car!

Er, well, I guess this one started with some sort of MSPaint picture featuring electronic schematics. But like many memes, it soon expanded, and became this photoshopped manga:

It's a lion! Get in the car!

Basically, there are two important elements to this meme. First, the smiley symbol for a lion is >:3. Second, to escape vicious lion attacks, you should get in to the car.

Like any meme, these two can easily be adapted to work with other memes like lolcats, raptor Jesus, angry sandwich guy, etc. If you don’t know what those are, stay tuned for future Meme Attacks!

Welcome to the latest regular feature of
mgroves.com: Meme Attack. This
feature will attempt to introduce and document memes of all types, new and old.

I was going to call it Meme Monday, but that
seemed too derivative.

Let’s begin our descent into madness, shall we?

First, some basic background. Memes. What are they?
There are a lot of definitions, but I prefer “retarded tagline of the internet.” Everyone who has used the
internet has seen at least one meme, this I promise you. Here are some examples of classic memes:

Memes come from many places: /b/, Fark, Something Awful, YTMND, and your mom. Memes can range from
cute and innocent, to vulgar and
tasteless. I will try to stay away from the latter as much as I can, but
sometimes it just can’t be done. Encyclopedia Dramatica has a lot of information
about memes, but it contains much which is apocryphal, or at least wildly inaccurate.

Why are memes important? Why should you bother reading any of this? If you aren’t aware of current memes,
then you are a noob,
you fail it,
and you should become an hero.

If you are confused or have questions, you need
to LURK MOAR.

With that, let’s start by highlighting two well-known memes.

The first is DSFARGEG. I think it was a GET,
but I don’t remember which number. Basically it was this picture:

DSFARGEG

…with the text “DSFARGEG” next to it. Yep, that’s pretty much it. Here’s the show it came from:

Secondly, let’s talk about SHOOP DA WHOOP. This meme is somewhat racist. It’s sometimes
hard to tell if racist memes are meant to be actually racist, or some sort of postmodern racism. My money
is on the former, but I’ll let you be the judge.

SHOOP DA WHOOP is a sequence of pictures in which a DBZ character has a blackface caricature drawn
over him. The captions are as follows:

  1. IMMA CHARGIN MAH LAZER
  2. IMMA FIRIN’ MAH LAZER
  3. SHOOP DA WHOOP (with a high-power lazer beam shooting from his mouth)

These two videos are win and demonstrate
the concept quite well.

In conclusion, DSFARGEG.
