Seperate but equal
What is happening in Kansas?
Under the bill swiftly signed this month by Gov. Dave Heineman, the urban district in 2008 would be carved into three new districts: one mostly white, one mostly black and one largely Hispanic…For starters, the lawmaker who proposed chopping the district into ethnic thirds against the will of district officials is no right-wing rube, but rather a longtime Omaha state senator dubbed by a magazine the angriest black man in Nebraska, Ernie Chambers.
(I can forgive the “rube” comment because it was necessary for the dopey alliteration that newspaper writers seem to love so much.)
So what’s the deal? Why are they doing this?
…families in predominantly African-American neighborhoods of northeast Omaha don’t want their schools controlled by mostly white administrators who hire mostly white teachers.
Because the white man is only hiring the white man, and everyone knows the white man is always out to get the black man? If racist administrators are the problem, the solution isn’t segregation. If Principal Whitey is turning away teachers simply because they are black, why isn’t punishment/termination on the table? From the Omaha Star:
‘This concept (that) black kids can’t be successfully educated unless they are around white kids is in and of itself patently racist and illogical.’
Wowee wow wow. The above statement is 100% true, of course, but the concept that black kids SHOULDN’T be around white kids because Whitey is somehow hindering the education of blacks is also patently racist and illogical. And isn’t it also illogical and racist to say that white teachers can’t teach black students or vice-versa?
I swear we went through all this in some sort of court case IN THIS EXACT SAME STATE. Except now, the shoe is on the other (equally retarded) foot. This is absolutely unbelievable. Civil rights activists fought like crazy, braving fire hoses, dogs, Jim Crow laws, etc, just so that the next generation of blacks would voluntarily segregate themselves?
