I’ve had two XBoxes in for service, both have been back in two weeks, plus a free month of XBox live. Not great, but considering the scope of the problem, not really that bad either.
I think it’s pretty standard as part of the whole, “Sorry our hardware is so terrible,” apology package you get with your fixed box. Still kind of a bummer when it happens though.
As a side note, I’m dual booting Ubuntu and XP currently. Will try to get a blog post up about it sometime.
While I didn’t have the red rings, my Xbox 360 went tits up three days before I left to cover E3. It sucked. Thankfully Costco has a lenient return policy, so I’m rocking a brand new Xbox 360 (and my old hard drive).

Oh yeah I forgot about the free xbox live. I wonder if they will give me that.
What’s an xbox?
It is a thing…which does…something.

hey I can say I have had a 360 for 2 1/2 years now with out a problem. I have tried to redring that damn thing and it just will not die
Yep, that’s what I said about a week before mine red ringed.

I got an in-store warranty with mine so I’m hoping I can just take it back and let Best Buy worry about all the nonsense when it inevitably blows up.
I love my 360, but I still look at it like a ticking time bomb.
