“One of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.”
“To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.”
“To summarize the summary: anyone capable of getting themselves made President should by no means be allowed to do the job.”
“To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.”
Today, Fred Thompson has quit the presidential race. Maybe someone will pick him up as a VP candidate as a token gesture to the real conservatives. Or maybe Obama will pick him us a VP candidate to truly express his “post-partisan” politics.
*Sigh*
Thompson would make a great candidate before the invention of the television – both in terms of his antebellum platform AND his scabrous appearance.
Double zing and triple-word score for the win.
does Fred like ICANHAZCHEEZEBRGER? if he did I would vote for him, or LOLZCATS
As silly as it sounds, Fred was the Clear Conservative Choice. It will be sad if he is not selected as a VP.
I’m not sure why that would sound silly…
In other news, Kucinich is out too: http://youdecide08.foxnews.com/2008/01/24/kucinich-drops-presidential-bid/
dang
I’m totally at a loss by the announcement. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Here was a candidate who was everything conservatives said they wanted, but because he wouldn’t do the little monkey dances required of running a campaign he couldn’t get support.
I’m really losing faith in the electorate right now. I can’t believe the support Hillary is getting over Obama. Surely people are not so blind as to what she is, she’s not even that convincing a liar, but she’s still a serious contender in the race.
I think you’re right Jason. Fred passed FactCheck.org 100% in every debate. He’s principled and sticks to what he says. I just think he wasn’t exciting or controversial enough. Unfortunately, I guess that doesn’t go very far.
