It’s almost official. The Reds will be sold by Cincinnati Reds, LLC to a group lead by Robert H. Castellini, who will probably replace Uncle Carl. Fortunately (or unfortunately I guess), the team is being bought by Cincinnatians, and not by Nick Lachey. What does this mean for the team on the field? Not much, I imagine. Aurilia and Ortiz were already turned down for options, and I doubt that much additional payroll will be added. It’s still likely that one of the four outfielders will be traded, and just as likely that it will be Wily Mo. What’s not certain yet is the fate of Dan O’Brien, the much maligned GM of the Reds. My name is Ray, why & how would you wanna sell the REDS,we just missed the playoffs a yr ago, with a better bullpen the reds could do what they did in 1990. This is a great franchise& it pisses me off that with the talent we have,we can’t win the central div, why?
Ray, this is from November, 2005. The team just missed the playoffs in 2006 *after* they were sold.
Whats the difference in spring training to regular season. The Reds were the best in spring to the worse. Pitching has been a major problem, but i think piss poor coaching&managing this year.Narron needs to be replace with someone who wants to win and will, marlins last yr coach is a good example. What do you think?
Spring Training is not a good indicator for seasonal performance. Also, I don’t think finding “someone who wants to win” is going to make a difference. Who doesn’t want to win?
